Daiana, 2023
Five years ago, she migrated to the state of Nuevo León in search of better job opportunities, as she faced closed doors and discrimination due to being a transgender person. She experienced gender-based violence and rejection in her previous location. In May of the current year 2023, she lost her job due to transphobia, prompting her to migrate to Mexico City. There, the Secretariat of Inclusion and Social Welfare provided her with assistance and referred her to Casa Frida, a safe space where she has regained her self-confidence.
In the future, Daiana Elizabeth aspires to become an activist representing the community, advocating for the rights of dissenting individuals who have experienced situations similar to hers or even more complex ones. She also hopes to pursue her personal projects, although she acknowledges that there is still much work to be done to make this country an inclusive and safe place for the LGBTQ+ community.
Her artistic work aims to convey contrasting and abstract sensations, breaking the boundaries of figuration and addressing a variety of themes ranging from pop culture to nature. She merges influences from her multicultural experiences into a unique and absorbing artistic expression.
